Why have ceremonies for Families and Children?
Celebrants perform many kinds of ceremonies for families and children, including baby namings and welcomings, ceremonies for adoptive families, coming of age celebrations for adolescents and ceremonies marking birthdays, graduations, family reunions and more.
Welcoming ceremonies for new family members, whether by birth, adoption or marriage, have existed in virtually every culture and country. Publicly marking the entry of new members into our families is perhaps one of the most joyous celebrations we can share, and acknowledging our responsibilities to our children one of the most serious commitments we can undertake.
Children also experience other important milestones, particularly when they pass from adolescence to adulthood. Ceremony can play a vital role in guiding your teenager through this coming of age transition, as your child takes on more mature responsibilities in the family and society. The child's input in designing a ceremony meaningful to him or her is vital.
Ceremonies provide signposts for our lives. Celebrating life's milestones together honors our past, shapes our present and molds our future.
How are Celebrant Ceremonies unique?
The Celebrant's mission is to create a ceremony that reflects your needs, beliefs, cultural background and values. In a Celebrant ceremony, your family is empowered. Nothing is imposed on you. Instead, in a collaborative process, the Celebrant will guide you in choosing rituals, readings, symbols and music to fulfill your family's ideals. The Celebrant will meet with you at a relaxing interview to discuss your vision of the ceremony, consult with you until the ceremony meets your approval, and perform the ceremony with care, professionalism and warmth.
